Multicultural Outreach

NAMI Greater Cleveland Multicultural Outreach program provides culturally appropriate outreach and support programs to empower individuals and their families affected by mental illness.

NAMI’s Multicultural Outreach Program targets the mental health needs of the African American and Hispanic/Latino communities. Many individuals may suffer needlessly from mental disorders such as clinical depression, schizophrenia, panic/anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD) and bipolar disorder.

Mental illness is not uncommon and is as diverse as the people who have it. The percentage of African Americans receiving needed care is only half that of whites and only 24% of Hispanics/Latinos with depression and anxiety receive appropriate care compared with 34% of whites with the same diagnosis.

NAMI can help. We provide culturally specific programs and services directed and sensitized to the needs and concerns of African American and Hispanic/Latino Communites.
